The Dope Show

"The drugs they say
To make us feel so hollow
We love in vain
Narcissistic and so shallow
The cops and queers
To swim you have to swallow
Hate today
No love for tomorrow

We're all stars now in the dope show
We're all stars now in the dope show

There's lots of pretty, pretty ones
That want to get you high
But all the pretty, pretty ones
Will leave you low
And blow your mind

We're all stars now in the dope show
We're all stars now in the dope show

They love you when you're on all the covers
When you're not, then they love another
They love you when you're on all the covers
When you're not, then they love another

The drugs they say
Are made in California
We love your face
We'd really like to sell you
The cops and queers
Make good-looking models
I hate today
Who will I wake up with tomorrow?

There's lots of pretty, pretty ones
That want to get you high
But all the pretty, pretty ones
Will leave you low
And blow your mind

They love you when you're on all the covers
When you're not, then they love another
They love you when you're on all the covers
When you're not, then they love another

There's lots of pretty, pretty ones
That want to get you high
But all the pretty, pretty ones
Will leave you low
And blow your mind
Go blow your mind

We're all stars now in the dope show
We're all stars now in the dope show"

What's this? Am I back?

Well, tentatively. It goes like this...

I found the quote (inset left below) in a bottle-cap months ago... knowing I'd have to post it at some point in our perpetual Plague saga. But loads of people beat me to it; there's about 10 graphic versions online. This one is my version and is copyright free.

"If you're going through hell, keep going."

Of course, Winston Churchill was referring to war - that circle of hell... specifically WWII. And there's no way of mitigating or minimizing that calamity... neither for those who perished or, in many cases, those who survived. And, yet, after all was said and done - and regardless of why and where the war started - it put an end to certain atrocious acts of genocide. And that was the good news.

In our present circle of hell there is no good news. Moreover, there's little hope for second-guessing our present narrative and plenty of forces in place to keep us in the dark. Our only hope is to maintain our humanity despite all worldly efforts to minimize it.

I can say no more. "Transparency" is currently out of fashion.

But, at least I've said something. I was beginning to wonder if I ever would again... or just remain flattened (and silenced) by that preternaturally bloated (and diseased) "elephant in the room."

My eureka-moment arrived today when I woke up with Marilyn Manson's "Dope Show" going through my head. Sheer genius... and sheer prescience. Now, I really don't have to say anything more... and I feel so much better! :-)
